The innovative design combines water storage and a drinking bowl into one compact, easy-to-carry unit. Lay the jug on its side to automatically dispense water through the slots on the attached bowl. When finished, turn the jug back upright for storage and any remaining water drains back into the reservoir. The slots act as a baffle and the unique design keeps the water level low, to eliminate splashing. My sister keeps one of these in the cargo area of her car most of the time, since she and her chiweenie Penny travel together daily. I think if I had one idea to improve the design, it would be to put some kind of non-skid material on the bottom surface, but otherwise this is a great little product.
